Hello, my name is

Duke Gand

Electrical Engineer

About me

I am an Electrical Engineer who loves all things hardware & software with an immense passion for clean power systems.

A leader, innovator, and change-maker of tomorrow's world.

With Legos acting as my gateway into the world of engineering, I soon became entraced by robots through my time in my elementary school robotics team. This in turn led to a love for all things electrical. As I matured, I discovered that my true passion lies within a perfect blend of both hardware and software. It wasn’t until a few years ago that I fully understood how my curiosity into learning how things worked by building, designing, and fixing them would be perfectly matched with a career in engineering.

Now, as a new grad of Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, the passion and spark that was ignited in my youth has grown exponentially. Through coursework, student societies & design teams, and personal projects I have developed my grit and engineering knowledge in ways I would have never imagined.

I love a good adventure. Hiking, biking, and skiing are my absolute favourite ways to get around places. It's one of my life goals to climb a mountain in every continent. Only 7 more to go!

Connections

I strongly believe in making new friends anywhere I am. Even if they are people who will be in my life for only a moment, I will still appreciate the time we share together and try my best to grow from it.

Learning

I do my best to learn at least one new thing every single day. Whether that be from meeting someone new, reading an exciting book, or self-reflecting about my day I always strive to be more knowledgeable than the person who I was yesterday.
